Family-owned and deeply rooted in the land, this forward-thinking estate blends sustainability with laid-back luxury in one of Scotland’s most breathtaking corners.
Accommodation ranges from the riverside charm of RiverBeds Luxury Wee Lodges, designed for two and tucked into ancient woodland beside a bubbling river, to the striking SeaBeds Luxury Lookouts — contemporary larch-clad lodges with floor-to-ceiling windows, walk-in rainfall showers, open-plan kitchens and private sunken hot tubs looking out to Loch Linnhe.
Then there’s Forest Corner Luxury Hideaway, which offers two separate larch-clad properties: a cosy one-bedroom bolthole for couples and a two-bedroom home for families or small groups. Both feature their own sunken hot tub and are nestled just minutes from the mouth of Glencoe, offering the perfect base for adventure or rest.
On arrival, you’ll find a chilled breakfast basket in your fridge, ready for slow mornings — with granola pots layered with Greek yoghurt, pastries, bread to toast, juice and fresh milk. There are also homemade cookies waiting, a sweet little touch that sums up Woodlands: thoughtful, simple and full of care.
And while there’s not (yet) an eco-pack, sustainability is absolutely baked into the way this estate runs. Woodlands has committed to reaching net zero by 2028 and is well on its way. Over 3,500 native trees have been planted in the past three years, 22 hot tubs across the site are powered by air-source heating systems, and five electric vehicles are already in use by the team — saving over 10 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. You’ll also find four electric car chargers and an e-bike charger on site, and any leftover food waste is repurposed to feed the estate’s happy flock of chickens.
The Woodlands Activity Centre offers low-impact fun for every age and pace — from archery and Segway tours to e-bike hire and forest wanders. And golf lovers, take note: the Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course — right at the heart of the estate — is one of the most scenic nine-hole courses in Scotland. Played in the shadow of towering mountains and maintained with a light environmental touch, it’s a beautiful way to slow down and take in the Highland surroundings.
For food, the Kitchen Food Truck is a highlight — a vintage Citroën van serving up breakfasts, brunches and hearty dinners daily. Expect Highland beef burgers, vegetarian specials and the unmissable Seafood Boil for Two (pre-order required — the fishermen need time to catch it fresh). Eat alfresco on the terrace with views of the loch or cosy up inside the clubhouse with drinks and WiFi — and yes, your dog is very welcome.
When it’s time to properly unwind, the Wellness & Massage Studio offers reiki, Thai massage, deep tissue and more. For the full experience, book into the Wilderness Sauna — a private hilltop Finnish sauna with panoramic views, a cold outdoor shower and an icy plunge pool. It’s a bracing, beautiful way to reconnect with yourself and the landscape.
From its zero-waste policy to its genuine commitment to net-zero goals, Woodlands Glencoe is proof that luxury and sustainability don’t just coexist — they support each other. Whether you’re soaking in a hot tub under starry Highland skies or teeing off into the mist, this is a place that stays with you long after you leave.
Cabins start at £199 per night and you have a choice of Sea view, River view or Forest view.
