The Hurrican Wars by Thea Guanzon

BOOK REVIEW

We’ve gone a little fantasy for this week’s Weekend Read — and trust us, it’s worth it.

It’s been a while since we’ve come across a book as exquisitely edited and immersive as The Hurricane Wars. Thea Guanzon weaves a world of political tension, shadowy alliances, and slow-burning magic that pulls you in from the first page. The world-building is rich without being overwhelming, and the two main characters shine with just enough light to pierce the darkness they’re up against.

If you’re in the mood for escapism with depth, tension, and beautifully written prose, we can highly recommend adding this to your list.

Naomi is the founder and editor-in-chief of PLEB Magazine. She fell in love with reading at the age of four and never looked back, devouring everything from Umberto Eco and Simone de Beauvoir to Tolstoy and Stephen King. These days, she gravitates toward fantasy and historical fiction, though some books defy categories and simply demand to be read.

For Naomi, reading is as essential as breathing, and writing isn’t far behind. She has one book published and more on the way. She believes that books should be preserved, no matter their content—because you never know whose life those words might change.
