Art and sustainable fashion combine to bring you a new collection from Blue Nude that pushes the boundaries of design while creating wearable and functional clothing.
Blue Nude collaborates seasonally with a different emerging visual artist to uplift creativity, and collaboration, and explore a different natural area of the world.
With sustainability at its core, Blue Nude is a colour-forward fashion label with all of its clothing range made in London. Championing local craftsmanship and earth-positive materials, is a part of Blue Nudes company values, alongside being committed to creating intimate, serene spaces within modern urban settings.
With clean lines reminiscent of functional, wearable statement pieces, paired with details from the artists Blue Nude collaborates with, from the office to lazy weekend lunches with friends, the Vida Privada collection will certainly be a show stopper.
Vida Privada is the name of Blue Nude’s latest sustainable fashion collection. Translated into English, Vida Privada means “private life”. The collection itself explores the balance between two facets of private spaces—sanctity and sensuality. After the success of the Chame collection, expressionist painter and collaborator James Watkins invited Blue Nude to return to Mexico, drawing inspiration directly from the country. This marks the brand’s first collection entirely researched on location, specifically in Mexico City and the artisanal hub of Oaxaca.
During two trips to Mexico City, Blue Nude found inspiration in the work of renowned architect Luis Barragán, whose designs prioritize privacy. Barragán’s homes serve as sanctuaries, with a focus on interior spaces rather than excessive use of exterior windows, a hallmark of the modernist architecture of his contemporaries in the United States. Instead, he framed nature from within, creating peaceful, private interiors that offered respite from the bustling city. His designs, which anticipate the challenges of urban living, struck a chord with Blue Nude’s exploration of duality in public and private life.
The duality observed in Mexico’s culture is reflected in the Vida Privada collection, where sanctity and sensuality coalesce. This balance is seen in the vibrant inner life expressed behind the strong facades of Mexico City’s architecture, such as Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul. Collaborating with James Watkins, Blue Nude captured these themes through two large canvas paintings in Watkins’ Escandón studio in Mexico City. One painting radiates warmth and joy, symbolizing the solace and peace found in inner life, while the other, darker and more intense, reflects the sensual energy of private spaces. The collection’s color palette—dark cochineal red, volcanic stone grey, and agave green—mirrors the Mexican landscape, brought to life through artisanal fabrics, Tencel-linen blends, and summer knitwear.
Blue Nude operates with a core belief that creative expression and environmental compassion can coexist harmoniously. In the 21st century, responsible creation is essential, and the brand strives to lead by example, promoting sustainable solutions in design. Blue Nude not only supports artists and their work but also emphasizes transparency and responsibility. Detailed information about the sustainability of each product is provided in product descriptions and on the brand’s journal.
The company is proud to partner with ESG sponsors such as Drip by Drip, a Berlin-based nonprofit focused on sustainable reform in the fashion industry. Drip by Drip’s initiatives in manufacturing hubs, like installing water filtration systems and providing healthcare in Bangladesh, align with Blue Nude’s long-term goals for ethical production. The brand also prioritizes local, socially responsible manufacturing partners, such as Fabrika in South London, ensuring that each product supports both artistry and human welfare.
By prioritising the use of natural, organic, recycled, deadstock, waste-sourced, and bio-fabricated materials, Blue Nude is living the sustainable fashion ethos. With fashion industry waste being high on the list of things Blue Nude avoids, even going so far as to keep fabric scraps and recylce wherever possible.
Sustainability remains a central focus for Blue Nude’s future. The brand carefully selects natural, organic, and recycled materials, while also exploring innovations in bio-fabricated materials. From compostable packaging to environmentally friendly labeling, Blue Nude acknowledges that sustainability is a dynamic journey. The company remains dedicated to continuous improvement and education to ensure its practices evolve with the growing demands of a conscious world.
