Young Entertainment Pop Culture Multimedia Movement

1. Let’s start with your story: How did Young Entertainment get started? What inspired you to create a platform that centers feel-good content for young audiences?

Young Entertainment started back in 2012 as a hub for YA book lovers—but it quickly evolved. We realised that the heart of Gen Z and millennial entertainment was shifting toward TV and film, so we pivoted with it. We started interviewing talent, diving into behind-the-scenes stories, and really became a reference point for all things books, television, movies and music. At the end of the day, our goal has always been the same: celebrate the stories and storytellers shaping youth entertainment.

2. The Young Entertainment Podcast has such a warm, authentic vibe. How did the podcast come about, and what kind of conversations do you aim to create with your guests?

The podcast came from two big ideas: First, we wanted a platform where we could host incredible guests—people the fans are genuinely curious about. But just as important, we wanted it to feel like two good friends chatting about their favourite shows, movies, books, and music. Something lighthearted, fun, and relatable. At our core, we are fans too—so we wanted listeners to feel like they were hanging out with people just like them.

3. Feel-good media seems to be having a moment. Why do you think uplifting, heart-centered content is resonating so strongly right now, especially with Gen Z and younger millennials?

Honestly, the world feels heavy sometimes. Uplifting stories offer a reset—a little hope, a little magic. For Gen Z especially, who are navigating so much, it’s about finding joy and emotional truth at the same time. That’s what feel-good media does best.

4. You’ve interviewed rising stars from some of the biggest shows in young adult entertainment. What have you learned from talking to them about the behind-the-scenes culture of “young Hollywood” today?

One of our favourite questions to ask is how actors cry on cue—and the answers are always wildly different. But more than that, these interviews show how muchthought and emotional labor goes into their performances. There’s a real respect for the craft behind the curtain.

5. You recently interviewed the creator of Ginny & Georgia, one of the most talked-about shows in recent years. What stood out to you in that conversation? Were there any surprising takeaways about the show’s impact or creative vision?

Sarah Lampert’s journey was incredibly inspiring. As she described it, her path was an “eight-year overnight success story.” Ginny & Georgia was actually the first show she ever pitched, and the way it all came together was so unique and unexpected. It’s the kind of story that reminds every creator that perseverance really does pay off—even in an industry as tough as this one.

6. Ginny & Georgia tackles issues like race, mental health, and mother-daughter dynamics while still feeling binge-worthy and entertaining. What did your interview reveal about how shows like this are redefining the YA genre?

It proved that the YA genre is maturing with its audience. We’re seeing content that doesn’t shy away from real conversations, but still delivers on entertainment and heart. With creators like Sarah Lampert and Jenny Han leading the way, the future of YA is in good hands.

7. Gen Z is changing how we interact with media, creators, and brands. From your perspective, what are the biggest shifts in how this generation consumes and connects with entertainment?

YouTube was the game-changer—it gave creators the mic and let fans in on the process. Gen Z doesn’t just want to watch something; they want to feel connected to it. That direct access, that sense of community—it’s changed everything.

8. Let’s talk fandoms. How are Gen Z fans reshaping celebrity culture and engagement? Are there any unexpected trends you’ve seen take hold?

Podcast culture is booming. I know that sounds self-referential, but seriously—fans want to hear long-form, unfiltered, real talk. It’s less about curated perfection and more about depth and connection. That shift is redefiningwhat it means to be “famous.”

9. Your work spans books, music, film, and TV. What do you look for when choosing which stories, shows, or artists to spotlight?

We follow our collective curiosity. Sometimes it starts with a podcast rec, or a show we’ve all been bingeing. From there, we’ll jump into fandom spaces on Reddit, X, or Discord to see what kind of buzz is happening. If the energy is there—and the story has heart—we know it’s worth diving into.

10. In a time when media can feel overwhelming or divisive, Young Entertainment leans into joy and connection. Was that always intentional—and how do you keep the tone authentic without glossing over real issues?

Absolutely. From the start, we wanted to lead with light and connection. It’s always been important to us to focus on the craft, the passion, and the creative process. We aim to uplift and inspire—while still having honest conversations that reflect what’s really happening in the industry and in culture.

11. What advice would you give brands, creators, or platforms trying to get Gen Z’s attention in a meaningful way?

We value empathy and authenticity. Every time we ask a question, we think about how we’d want to be asked the same thing. Whether it’s lighthearted or personal, the goal is to create a space where people feel seen and respected. That’s how real connection happens.

12. What’s next for Young Entertainment? Any exciting projects, expansions, or guests we should look out for?

We’re really excited about our upcoming episodes with cast members from Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires. There’s more coming from that universe—and more big interviews on the horizon. We’re just getting started.

13. And finally, just for fun: What’s a comfort-watch, re-read, or playlist you always come back to?

The O.C., no question. That scene where Ryan shows up at exactly midnight for Marissa on New Year’s Eve? It lives rent-free in my head. Pure TV magic.
